Wagner Calls on Biden Administration to Support Farmers, Maintain Food Supply Stability

Washington, D.C.  – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO), released the following statement after she joined her colleagues in sending a letter to the Biden Administration asking them to rescind a brief to the Supreme Court that could limit farmers’ access to necessary materials as they work to grow food for our communities while addressing skyrocketing inflation and a dire supply chain crisis.

Rep. Wagner said: “The Biden Administration’s actions in this case could increase food costs at a time when Missouri families are hurting from rampant inflation.  I will always fight to keep food costs and other necessities low, and I am proud to support a local business and protect Missouri farmers from a radical administration that continues to take reckless actions and make your life more difficult.”

The Members said: “Not only does this recommendation undermine consumer confidence in the EPA’s scientific evaluations, but it could also limit farmers’ access to an essential herbicide while the world is confronting the greatest hunger crisis in decades. Roundup allows farmers to implement no till practices to control runoff and soil erosion while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by lowering the number of required passes through a field. As worries of hunger spread, through domestic disruptions or export bans, America’s farmers should not be hindered in their ability to feed the world.”

Bayer is a major employer in the St. Louis region, and Rep. Wagner recently met with Bayer’s CEO Werner Baumann during her Congressional Delegation trip to Europe last month.  Read the full letter to the Biden Administration here.
